Now

Since you started reading this sentence, hundreds of thousands of millions of billions of changes will have taken place in the immediate world around you. And before you reach the end of this text, an unimaginable number of inconceivably distant stars will have become supernovas, starting the formation process of an equally unimaginable number of new worlds. Such estimations, which could at first seem exaggerated, are actually far away from being remotely close to the true number of changes that occur constantly around us. Think for a moment how many things happen in a moment. Grasp all the different processes that take place in each and every one of the trillion cells that shape your body. Imagine the movements of the atomic particles that compose each of your cells. Multiply that by the eight billion people breathing in the world now, to then realize how vastly outnumbered humans are in relation to the other living creatures. Take also into account the intrinsic forces of the planet that constantly influence the tides and generate the winds that erode the ever changing landscape. Become aware of the superficial friction taking place in between each and every one of the grains of sand in all the dunes of all the deserts. The motion generated in the deep oceans by each and every one of its water molecules, gently swinging each other from one point to the next, in their quest to the wave crest that evaporates them into the sky. And any of those quadrillion particles flying into the atmosphere in this very precise tick faces the ever unstable universe to acknowledge the potential variety of elements it contains, dancing in perpetual related movement. Be mindful of your own mental activity as you read these thoughts. A hundred billion neurons in constant synaptic communication, generating a highly automated interpretation of each visual character, combining all the possible relationships among the previous words, to deliver an immediate response of meaning, uniquely regulated by all your conscious knowledge and unconscious emotional background. This unceasing and unquantifiable number of changes takes place in the very instant, moment, point, junction, tick, tock, we call the “Present”. A constant stream of transformation of everything there is, in a continuous state of becoming something else. There is no “past”. It is simply not happening anymore.
There is no “future”. It is simply not happening yet.
There is no “before”. There is no “after”.
Only Now.
